Trudy Jorgensen-Price
(Library representative) reported nearly 900 tax season appointments at the library and announced upcoming events:
- April 17, 2026: Oral history recording in conjunction with America 250 celebrations
- April 29, 2026: All-Abilities Activity at 10:30 a.m. (crafts and bingo for adults and teens with intellectual disabilities)
- May 1, 2026: El día de los niños / El día de los libros event (face painting, treats, crafts)
- May 4, 2026, 3:00–5:00 p.m.: Maker Monday (monster bookmark craft)
Tom Sharlow
(3930 S 3030 E) raised concerns about residential fireworks, noting that commercially available fireworks have significantly increased in power over recent years and pose safety and fire risks in cul-de-sacs and residential neighborhoods.

Announcements & Notable Items

The City is temporarily meeting in Millcreek while City Hall work is underway. City Manager Chamness thanked the move team, led by Assistant City Engineer Joe Bolton, City Recorder Stephanie Carlson, Mr. Larsen, Ms. Smith, and herself.
UDOT has prioritized the I-215 trail project (2300 East to Highland Drive) as part of the Utah Trail Network for State Fiscal Year 2026–2027. Funding approval could come by end of June 2026; design could begin as early as summer 2026. No matching funds required under this funding source (unlike the previously unsuccessful WFRC application). Federal earmark funding is considered less likely.
The Spring Lane Park Open House held April 15, 2026 had strong turnout with more than 40 attendees.
The Legislature approved aligning Juneteenth with the Federal holiday (permanently on June 19). The State also approved a Good Friday half-day holiday for State employees; the City's Employee Manual already follows State guidelines.

Captain Dan Brown (UFA) presented a comprehensive overview of UFA governance, budget, Station 104 operations, and the City of Holladay's direct membership model. Key points: UFA has 695 personnel and 26 stations; Station 104 is staffed 24/7 with a four-person engine and two-person ambulance; the City retains local tax control as a direct member.
The Business License Fee Study found the cost of City services to businesses is nearly $1 million annually, while average Business License fee revenue over the last five years is approximately $290,000; other tax sources cover the remainder.
